On the 22nd of January Damien and Kevin came to our school to teach us all how to become the best coach you can be. As a person who played very little GAA in their life, I was not particularly excited for this day. I presumed we would be out on the pitches but instead we watched a PowerPoint for most of the day which was frustrating since I spent five euro for this. Don't get me wrong, the information they were telling us was definitely worthwhile if you intended on coaching juvenile matches. During the second part of the day we were brought down to the gym to do some "drills". We each had to demonstrate our groups drill. I found this difficult as I can't play hurling.
Our year was given roles for the next few weeks and the main task was to teach the first and second years all the drills and to become a coach. I didn't have to do anything. Soon two people will present a PowerPoint that they prepared and hopefully we will win the competition and get to go to Dublin.
